Winter Storm Response Update: 3:53pm, Monday, January 17, 2022

****Winter Storm Response Update****

Snow removal crews have been working since early this morning to clear Town maintained roads. The Town does not provide snow removal service to private roads or roads not yet maintained by the Town such as Conrad Farm or Avalon.

Snow plows have been unsuccessful in snow removal on a few roads due to ice build-up. Several roads and cul de sacs were filled with parked cars preventing the crews from plowing. Please be sure to move any cars parked in the roadways to allow us the ability to plow the streets. The snow removal crew will return to service roads until all are deemed safe and clear.

The NC DOT arrived around 3 p.m. today to begin plowing the state roads they maintain including Shallowford, Lewisville-Clemons, Lewisville-Vienna, Etc. They have been extremely busy along with staff shortages due to illness and equipment issues. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Waste Management has canceled all trash and recycle service tomorrow. This will cause delays for the remainder of the week. They are hopeful to resume service on Wednesday if conditions allow. We will post updates as they become available.

If you have concerns regarding snow removal on any Town maintained roads, please contact the Public Works Director, Ryan Moser at 336-945-1020. Please leave a detailed message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Road conditions are expected to worsen as the overnight temperatures will cause refreezing in roadways. Please exercise caution and drive only if absolutely necessary.

We extend a special thanks to members of the Town Staff who have been working non-stop since Saturday to keep our residents safe and informed. It’s been a team effort and we are appreciative of their hard work.

Please be safe. As always, it it our pleasure to serve our residents.
