The Town of Lewisville, building on the work completed over the years in downtown Lewisville, has initiated the Great Wagon Road Planning and Design Project. The project will follow North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) policies and procedures. This multi-modal project will extend existing GWR and serve as a parallel facility to Shallowford Road to accommodate future traffic and improve connectivity. Two new side street connections will be added between Shallowford Road and GWR. Sidewalks and bike lanes are being added to both sides of the road, improving safety for pedestrians and bicyclists while maintaining the character of Lewisville.
