Light amounts of wintery precipitation or patchy blowing snow will cause slock conditions and could affect travel if precautions are not taken.
Winter Weather Preparedness
Here are helpful tips selected by Lewisville Fire Department Chief Darin Needham and Assistant Chief Jesse Levy to stay safe during colder weather:
- Keep flammable objects at least three feet from all heat sources
- Never use an oven to heat your home
- Turn space heaters off when leaving the room or going to bed
- Never use candles for emergency lighting. Use flashlights and stock up on extra batteries
- Use surge protectors and consider unplugging appliances. Connect appliances to portable generators with heavy-duty extension cords
- Don’t fuel your generator when it is running
