Important Trash/Recycling Update

IMPORTANT: Due to winter weather, MONDAY and WEDNESDAY’s trash and recycling routes will *NOT* be serviced this week. Waste Management is aware that next Monday’s route will be heavier and will plan accordingly.

Thursday, and Friday routes are still scheduled but will begin later than usual. If roads are unsafe, some areas may be skipped and serviced later.

📞 For trash and recycling questions, please contact Waste Management at 336-723-2784.

Town crews and contractors continue clearing Town-maintained roads as conditions allow. We have been advised that NCDOT crews are making their way toward Lewisville to address state-maintained roads.

⚠️ Please use caution this week. Avoid unnecessary travel, do not park on streets, and do not pass snow plows.

We understand this may be frustrating, and thank you for your patience.

Original News Post:

Due to winter weather conditions, Monday’s trash and recycling routes are delayed until Wednesday, January 28.

All remaining routes this week should also expect delays.

Most main roads are starting to clear, but side roads, neighborhoods, and business parking lots are still very icy/snowy and could be treacherous for trucks and pedestrians. We appreciate Waste Management's concern and responsiveness during this winter weather event.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize safety during this weather event.

To-Go Cups Now Accepted in Curbside Recycling

Plastic and paper to-go cups are now accepted in Lewisville's curbside recycling.

Waste Management announced in November that plastic cups made of polypropylene and paper to-go cups are now on the list of accepted recyclable materials.

Paper and plastic to-go cups

Polypropylene cups are approaching a qualification for a Widely Recyclable designation from How2Recycle®, North America's most recognizable on-pack disposal label, which would mean more than 60 percent of U.S. residents can recycle plastic beverage cups curbside. The Recycling Partnership's State of Recycling Report indicates households generate on average about the same amount of polypropylene as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) used for items such as laundry detergent, milk or shampoo bottles, yet the recycling rate for polypropylene is one-third of what it is for HDPE.

Paper beverage to-go cups are trending toward meeting the criteria for the Check Locally designation from How2Recycle, which would mean at least 20 percent of communities accept paper cups in curbside recycling collection.

Thank you for recycling right.
